rain, rain, crochet, rain

Greetings everyone from a very wet Brisbane.

Thursday was a lovely clear day, sunny and quite cool.

By Saturday it was raining cats and dogs and several other animals and cold.

I went to a gorgeous baby shower on Saturday with Miss Amelie for a friend having her first baby.  I crocheted a cute gender-neutral baby blanket for the impending arrival.  (Sorry about the photos, inside shots with my phone.  My camera has gone on holidays without me to NYC).

some days are diamonds, some days are coal

I've been writing and rewriting this in my head all day.  You know mostly I'm a glass half full kind of girl, but some days just give me the pip.

I'm having one of those days.  Oh well.  Just thought I'd put that out there and share the love.  The weather here is pretty blegh today too which doesn't help.  Everything has annoyed me today, from Amelie spewing down my shirt, completely missed my shirt and herself and managed to get it to pool nicely in my bra!  To the Little Guy obviously picking up on my disgusting mood and doing everything possible to rub me up the wrong way further :)

Husband Guy has had a nice lunch at a fancy restaurant for some work thing.  Usually I revel in his sucess/ good fortune but today I'm humungously jealous.

Oh well, pardon my language, but shit happens.

I'll be ok later/tomorrow/ after a wine or two!  :)  Blogging is very cathartic!

April

April in the Calendar

We went to a lovely Wedding on Thursday 12th of April.  Some very special friends of ours decided to get hitched after 14 years together!  It was a super secret wedding with only 6 guests (plus Amelie and their fur-kid Bella).

Congratulations Landon & Carissa, we love you guys!

styling the kid's rooms

I've been hanging out for weeks to style the children's rooms really nicely.  I finally got around to it in the last week or so, with the culmination being today when Mum & I carried Amelie's dressing table up from under our house.  The dressing table came from my Granny's place and I think it belonged to an Aunt or something.  It's been under our house for 2 years with the thought that one day we might have a little girl to give it to.  Under the terrible paint it is apparently Silky Oak.

When we moved little Guy into his new room I sweetened the deal by buying him an awesome rocket light feature.  Last week I re hung his fabric canvases that I made and today we hung the awesome LED lights that Mum & Dad bought for him for Easter.  Next stop will be some cute bunting and then I think we'll be done.

Amelie's room is still kind of under re arrangement but the dressing table installation has helped heaps.  She'd been given some very cute things that I knew would be perfect on the dressing table and I had it all worked out in my mind where they'd go.

My Mum helped me out the other day by washing the two woolen blankets I'd crocheted for Amelie during my pregnancy and they are now happily being used by my gorgeous little possum.

a taste of Easter

My Dad showing the little Guy how to jump down the sand dunes.  Not bad for an old fella! (Love you Dad!)

We've had a really lovely couple of weeks over Easter here at meandmy2guys (and a little girl).  The little Guy and Amelie and I went to the beach with my parents for a couple of days.

Then the 4 day Easter weekend has been a lovely relaxing time at home with husband Guy and the two doggies, relaxing on the new deck.  Sunday we went to visit with Guy's family who were out camping by a river.  I decided to cook up a storm on Saturday, baking 2 loaves of bread, a sweet chocolate bread and a spinach pie for dinner.

The chocolate bread was from Martha Stewart - I'd seen it on her program a few weeks ago and ear marked it as an Easter treat.  I'm a bit obsessed with Martha at the moment, they show her program here on free to air tv in the day time, I think the episodes are actually about a year old but I'm getting so much inspiration from her wide variety of topics.  Husband Guy thinks it's hilarious, he's mentioned my 'love' for Martha a few times lately!  Anyway the bread was really yummy, it is a long process but totally worth it.  Although mine was a teeny bit dry, will cook it a little less next time.  And I think I'll use more of the chocolate filling to give a more chocolatey inside.  I used Green and Black's Organic Milk Chocolate which has a little bit of dark chocolate in it for a richer taste - yum!

My mother-in-law dyed some of her chicken eggs for our lunch yesterday.  I'd seen the process on Martha the other day and passed the 'recipe' on to her.  Their chicken eggs are hands down the best eggs I've ever tasted.  It doesn't matter what free range or organic eggs I buy, nothing beats my MIL's chicken eggs.  I thought this vibrant green one was the best (so I nabbed it for myself).
