Hi Bree! Thanks so much for stopping by Scarlet Fig. And I am so sorry for my delay in getting back to you. I've been sick for a week and am just now returning to the land of the living. Thanks so much for your nice comments about my fabrics. I'm so glad you like them! And the applique is quite easy. 1. Iron some heat set fusible interfacing onto the wrong side or your scrap fabric. 2. Cut out your little applique pices. 3. Put some tear away stabilizer under the fabric that you want to sew your little applique pieces on.4. I then use a satin stitch on my machine to attach the little applique pieces to the fabric. I'm sure there is a way to do this that results in zero frayed edges, but my way is pretty quick and it means very few frayed edges. I haven't ever washed the pillow covers (they are meant to be spot cleaned) so I'm not sure how they would wash in terms of frayed edges. Hope that helps. And I hope you post pics of your project!
