cute crochet heart - tutorial

I started mucking around today trying to work out a cute little heart crochet motif. This is just a very simple motif and tutorial but would look very nice attached to a Valentine's day present or just as a little token for someone special. I think a pretty garland of hearts and stars would look cute for a little girl's room too. I am using UK crochet terms here and I'm not going to take step by step photos at this stage. Please let me know if you would like more photos. I used a 4.5mm hook with 8ply (DK) yarn. It also works with twine ;) Chain 4 and slip stitch to form a ring. Chain 3 (counts as first triple crochet) and then form 10 more tr's in the ring (11 spokes all up) Single crochet into the first space between the tr's (spokes) (all stitches are worked into the spaces between the spokes) 8 tr's into the next space (it's squishy but they fit) Double crochet into next space (dc) Single crochet into next space Single crochet into next space Single crochet and chain 3 Single crochet Single crochet Single crochet Double crochet 8 tr's slip stitch to join in with first sc. Please let me know if you make some of these cute hearts! ** this is a free tutorial not for reproduction, personal use only ++

paint box baby blanket

Helloo! Sorry I've been a bit slack in the blogging department. I forget sometimes between the Facebook and instagram and real life that I have this space to atrend to as well. I have been crafting up a storm and of course had the little Guy on holidays before he starts Prep in 12 days! Eek! How can I be the mum of a school aged child? Anyway last week 2 of our sets of friends had their first babies. Both girls. So I'm powering along trying to finish their baby blankets in record time. Because you know too many projects are never enough. I bought the yarn for these blankets a couple of months ago and had been tossing ideas around in my head. I wanted to try some larger single colour granny squares and didn't want to have the hassle of joining 100 squares at the end. This join as you go method works well and takes some of the hassle out of using granny squares. I'll do a couple more rows and then a white border around the whole thing.

a lovely homely holiday

We have had a really nice last month here in meandmy2guys land. Me and my 2 Guys and Miss Amelie have been home together for about 3 weeks and celebrated 2 birthdays, Christmas and New Year. We didn't go anywhere flash or do anything expensive but just spent loads of time together enjoying being a family. There were few fights and many laughs. We ate lots of cake, gingerbread men, rum balls, cranberry and almond balls, assorted chocolate and loads and loads of ham! Husband Guy and I drank litres and litres of coffee and a reasonable amount of alcohol.
The children's birthdays were wonderful and they were thoroughly spoilt by us and our family and friends. Our cakes were a triumph once again continuing our run of great cakes. Although we were pretty busy over the Christmas/New Year week we did manage to have a week of relaxation prior and a few days afterwards.
Husband Guy is back at work now and they kiddies and I are slowly getting back into our routines. The little Guy starts school on the 29th of January so Amelie and I will have several extra days per week to be both relaxed and extra busy. For the New Year I made 2 resolutions and had 1 wish for myself (aside from all those things we all wish for on a daily basis). I resovled to start a meandmy2guys Facebook page which I did prior to the end of 2012 (have you come to 'Like' me? It's a cool page) I also resolved to start going to the gym with a couple of lovely friends I met through Little Guy's kindy last year. My wish for myself for this year is better health. 2012 was a little hard on my health - nothing serious but just a series of annoying health issues waylaid me throughout the year. Hopefully 2013 will see me exercising more, creating more and staying healthy!
From my family to yours I wish you happiness, healthiness and doing a little something each day that makes you happy.

t shirt rag rug

I've had tshirt yarn on my mind the last few days. So I grabbed a handful of old mens shirts and had a go. Such fun and so pleased with the results.
I'm going to offer these rugs for sale. Made from new or repurposed materials. And if you want to try it yourself I will be offering the tshirt yarn for sale as well.
