pinwheel delight - pinwheels complete

I spent a blissful day today tucked up in my studio with the air con going (it was 35 degrees here today) sewing my little heart out.  It was lovely, the whole day, very decadent really but what the hey!

I had a lovely time cutting out squares and transforming them into half square triangles then into pinwheels.  All these little piles spread out over my desk in various states of completion.  The only hiccup I had was when I attached the wrong group of plain fabrics to the wrong group of prints. (I'm doing half my pinwheels with grey fabric and half with white)  I had to unpick 16 sets of HST's and re stitch.  Not strictly how you're supposed to do it but I didn't want to waste that many HST's and they were a direct swap.

I also cut out a lot of the blocks that will go in between the pinwheels.  I haven't done them all but enough to lay out the bulk of the quilt top to show Mum this afternoon.  I think when it comes to formally laying out the top I will have to use a design wall in order to get a nice balance of the colours.

This pattern is a credit to Christine, it's very easy to follow and there are a enough pinwheels for you to really get the hang of making them.  You can also easily customise the quilt to suit the size you require.
