it's all about the sticks

I've started my annual winter knitting in the last few days.  I'd purchased some wooden knitting needles late last year and was keen to cast on and try them out.

I had some funky chunky green yarn so I cast on a simple scarf.  The little Guy saw me knitting and asked me what I was doing.  I replied that I was knitting a scarf and would probably give it to his Nanny (my Mum).  He looked a bit wounded and asked very quietly if I'd knit him one, I said of course I would.  I asked him what colour he'd like and after a bit of consideration he said he would like a red scarf.

So off I trotted yesterday and picked up some more wooden needles and some red 100% wool.  He was very excited when he got home from kindy to see that I'd started his scarf.

I also made three wall hangings for his Space themed 'big boy' room yesterday which he was quite pleased with.

Whilst purchasing more wool and sticks I also picked up this knitting book.  I'm a straight line, scarfs only kind of knitter but would love to know how to create some other simple knits such as beanies or vests.  This book is very well set out and provides excellent instructions.  Once the little red scarf is done I'll definately be trying one of the beanie patterns.

I don't knit but the scarfs looks great! My son (who is 5) wanted a scarf last winter so I will sew him one this year!
Love the artwork for his room!
