the most exciting thing!

Yesterday I did one of the most exciting things I've ever done (yes I've lead a very sheltered life I know).  I did a course on machine quilting and free motion quilting - the free motion quilting being the exciting thing.

I've never done any quilt courses so it was excellent to attend a course like this which covered a lot of things I've done but showed us the 'right' way to do it.  Although our wonderful tutor Christine is not seriously strict about how you do things, she's all for bending the rules of quilting.  But just simple things like how to baste your quilt sandwich (masking tape is the key!) so you don't wind up with puckers when you quilt and things like that.

The free motion quilting was so much fun.  Scary, a bit hard but so much fun.  We all were concentrating so hard but with just a little bit of practice I found it relatively easy to create lovely loopy designs.

Aunty Dor had done a sampler quilt course with Christine and highly recommended her.  So when the opportunity came up for us to do this quilting course we jumped at the chance.  Christine also offers a binding course so I'm keen to try that too.

It was a wonderful day and I came home on such a high, and thanks to my Mum who took the day off work to look after my little Guy so I could attend.
